They were a joy to work with! Taylor often came on-site to inspect ongoing work. He kept the project organized and the trades well coordinated. His communication with us was outstanding, and he was always responsive to our questions and requests. Having Callie on board as our designer was a game changer. She made the process very collaborative, taking great care to understand our vision for the space and to help us choose the perfect materials and features. Edward, the owner, stopped by several times to check progress and to ensure our satisfaction. And we appreciated crew member Carlos, who was a constant cheerful presence in our home throughout the entire project.

This team created the beautiful and highly functional kitchen we were hoping for! They will definitely be our go-to company for our future projects.

Edward Dean Design & Build completed a pretty sizable remodel for us last Spring in our 1920s house. Initially, we had LOFTY goals of a second story renovation and an ADU in the backyard. EDDB helped us with design and permits for everything, but in the end, we could only afford the first floor renovation, which involved taking some walls down, a TON of fresh electrical, brand new kitchen, new floors, retexturing of quite a few walls, and adding in some pretty arches. The guys all did a great job and Edward/Taylor were very kind/funny along the way. One thing we really appreciated is that they didn't give up on us when we continuously changed the scope of our project due to budget. We all worked together to figure out what we COULD accomplish.

Hopefully when we win the lottery, we can finally have them finish all of our other permitted projects!

We took our search for a general contractor very seriously. Our project was significant in scope: we wanted to construct an ADU from scratch, add a room addition to our main house, do a kitchen remodel, a bathroom remodel, and bring some things up to code, with the constraint that someone could continue living in our converted garage during the construction.

We interviewed a few different companies. Several were contracting firms where a salesman-type came and talked about all they could do for us and how they had several contractors and we would get one of the best. One asked if there was any way we could get more money. It felt like shopping for a car.

Meeting with Edward was different. He was straight-forward and relatable (he got along great with our dog). He explained what was possible and what was not. He suggested things we could do and ways to accomplish our goals.

We hired Edward Dean Design & Build to assist us with the design and the drafting of the plans. Edward facilitated getting our plans permitted and was quick to address any questions or concerns posed by the city. By the time our plans were approved, we knew we wanted to work with him for the construction.

Edward took our budget and goals and provided the best possible solution at that budget. He did not try to sell us on spending more, and he was honest with us about what our money would buy. He is constantly on the lookout for ways to save money for us.

The construction process has been smooth. He keeps us updated often, with status and photos. Edward is conscientious about doing things efficiently and prudently. When issues arise he is quick to reach out, present options to us, and provide his opinion when asked. We trust him and we feel that he is honest. That, more than anything else, is worth everything.

The team at Edward Dean Design & Build is wonderful. Taylor and Callie are reliable and organized. Our neighbors have said the crews are friendly; perhaps more impressive: none of our neighbors are upset with us due to noise, dust, or otherwise.

As of this writing, the quality to date has been excellent. The crews have found innovative solutions to construction challenges. It is clear that corners are not being cut. The city inspectors are happy with us. We are very satisfied and impressed by the workmanship.

We are very happy with Edward Dean Design & Build so far and look forward to working with them again in the future should any opportunity arise!

Edward Dean is my go-to for home improvement projects. Most recently, he built a terrific redwood deck for us. Friendly, lots of ideas, and honest. Highly recommend!
